This photo was taken as a single RAW file at around 2:50pm on the 3rd May 2025 and later developed with Luminar Neo.
Unusually for me, it was shot at 40mm (APS-C) – short telephoto!
Gill and I were on a caravanning holiday at Grassington in North Yorkshire. We hadn’t been to Grassington for around a decade, so this was quite a nostalgic trip for us, having visited more regularly when our children were young.
We wanted to visit places we remembered, and one of these was Linton Falls. I spent some time on the bridge waiting for light and taking a few photos before we both walked over and along the north east shore of the River Wharf.
I saw this lovely-looking house and garden across the river and waited for some decent light before taking the shot as a single RAW file. This gave me plenty of time to plan and get what I considered to be the best composition.
Being across the river meant me having to break my usual habit of shooting ultra-wide with close foreground. I ended up composing the photo at 40mm (APS-C), which is around 60mm focal length on 35mm format.
As usual, I took other photos of possible potential, but I considered this to be the best capture of the day, so this one was developed and published first.
Comments welcome as usual.
