View Across the Field at Cae Mawr, Anglesey

This photo was taken as a single exposure RAW file at 4:20 pm on the 11th June 2025 and later developed with Luminar Neo.

I’ve always found the view of the house and trees across the field bordering the caravan site at Cae Mawr strangely compelling.

New Idea for an Old Subject

I have photographed this before but never with foreground framing.

On our recent visit, it suddenly occurred to me that the wall, tree and overhanging leaves could make a good frame for the subject. So I set to work to find the right focal length for the composition, which turned out to be 50mm (APS-C).

Development and Editing

I’ve been using Luminar Neo for around 6 months now, and unlike On1 Photo RAW, it has proven to be very reliable.

Together with the usual development practices, I duplicated the layer a couple of times in order to balance out the presence of the leaves round the perimeter. I used a combination of the erase and clone tools to remove distracting foreground elements. I also used Luminar’s GenErase feature to remove a newer building and power lines.

Whilst I don’t consider to be one of my best images, I’ve published it here out of fondness for the familiar view.
